I live in New Zealand and got the call from South Africa that my mom had passed away. Because of the time difference, I honestly thought I would struggle to get hold of anyone and that everything would have to wait.
I phoned Mosaic and someone answered. They told me not to panic, explained what they needed from me, and said they would go out and bring my mom into their care. Later they let me know once she was safely at their mortuary, which helped because I felt completely helpless being so far away.
The arrangements were done by video call. They sent me photos of the urns and other items, and we spoke through the options properly. My children wanted to write letters to their gran, so I emailed the letters to Mosaic. They printed them and placed them with my mom before the cremation.
They also let me know the cremation date and time, so even though we were overseas, we could stop and think of her at that moment. Afterwards, they helped with the ashes and kept us updated until everything was finalised. I was far away, but I never felt like my mom was being handled by strangers.

My husband passed away while we were on holiday on the South Coast. We are from Gauteng, and our funeral policy was also with a company in Gauteng, so I was in a complete panic.
I phoned Mosaic and explained that I did not know if I had to take him back to Gauteng or what the policy would allow. They came out, took my husband into their care, and then sat with me to explain the choices. They told me what it would mean to transport him back and what it would mean to have the cremation done locally.
The policy company gave us problems at first and did not want to approve things quickly. Mosaic helped with the calls and communication. It took a few days to sort out, but they did not charge me extra storage while we were waiting because he was kept in their own private mortuary.
In the end we chose to have the cremation done here. It was simple, quiet and respectful, which is what we wanted. His ashes were handed back to me before I travelled home. I arrived in KZN on holiday and left without my husband, but Mosaic made sure I did not have to fight through everything alone.

I met with Mosaic before my wife passed away.
Her health was getting worse, and I wanted to know what to do when the time came. We sat in their office and they answered all my questions. They explained who to phone, what happens at the house, what paperwork would be needed, and what could be paid in advance. I paid for the cremation ahead of time because I did not want to make those decisions in a panic later.
When my wife passed away, I phoned Mosaic. They were at my home in about 25 minutes. They actually arrived before the ambulance. When the ambulance came, Mosaic stood back and gave them space. Afterwards, they sat with me again and explained everything, even though they had explained it before. At that moment, you forget everything.
They gave me time to say goodbye. When they took her out, they allowed me to walk behind her up to the vehicle. I needed that.
They let me know when she arrived safely at the mortuary. The cremation was done according to the plan we had made before. When the ashes were ready, I was not ready to collect them yet. My family wanted me to, but I could not. Mosaic kept the ashes safe for me until I was ready, and they did not make me feel bad about it.

We were visiting my parents in Port Edward when my dad passed away. I know there are funeral companies closer to Port Edward, but Mosaic helped our family before and I only wanted them.
I phoned them from the house and asked if they would be willing to come that far. They did not make me feel like it was a problem. They came from Scottburgh, and when they arrived, they first spoke to my mom and explained what would happen. My mom was very shaken, and they were gentle with her.
We did not want to travel back and forth for arrangements, so Mosaic came out to us in Port Edward again. We sat around the dining room table and planned everything there. They helped with the documents, explained the cremation, and gave us time to choose what we wanted.
My dad was taken into their care, the cremation was arranged, and when his ashes were ready, they helped us get them back without us having to drive around while my mom was still struggling. It meant a lot that they came all the way to us.

We arrived at Mosaic's office without an appointment.
My mother had just passed away in hospital, and the hospital told us we needed to choose a funeral home. We were stressed and probably looked completely lost when we walked in. The staff still made space for us. Someone moved things around so that we could sit down and speak to a funeral director.
They explained the hospital release, the forms, the cremation, and what the next few days would look like. We did not have everything with us, but they told us what to send later and did not make us feel unprepared.
We arranged a small memorial service. My sister changed the photo for the programme twice, and we added one extra song the night before. They helped us without making it a drama.
After the memorial, my mom was cremated and her ashes were returned to us. What I remember most is that we walked in with no appointment and still felt like we were important.

Our family could not agree on anything at first.
My brother wanted no service. My sister wanted a full funeral. My dad just wanted everyone to stop arguing. We sat with Mosaic, and they did not take over or force a decision. They explained the different options and then gave us time to speak as a family.
We actually left the first meeting without deciding. I thought that would be a problem, but it was not. Mosaic said we could take the evening, talk properly, and come back to them the next morning.
The next day we agreed on a small memorial followed by cremation. It was the right choice for us. Mosaic helped with the paperwork, the music, the programme and the cremation arrangements. When the ashes were ready, they contacted us and we collected them together as a family.
I appreciated that they gave us space instead of pushing us when we were emotional.

My father passed away at a hospital in Durban. I live in Amanzimtoti, my sister is in Pietermaritzburg, and my brother is in Cape Town, so trying to get everyone on the same page was not easy.
Mosaic collected my father from the hospital and then helped us arrange everything with the family in different places. Some of us came to the office, and the others joined by phone. They explained the cremation option, what documents were needed, and how the ashes would be handled afterwards.
My brother could not attend the memorial, so Mosaic helped us include him by allowing us to send his tribute in writing. It was read at the service, and that meant a lot to him.
After the cremation, the ashes were collected by my sister because she was the person nominated by the family. Everything was clear, and there was no confusion about who was allowed to collect. That gave us peace.

My ouma passed away at a frail care centre.
The care home phoned us first, and then we contacted Mosaic. When they arrived, they spoke to the staff and checked what documents were available. I was worried because I did not know what the care home was supposed to give us and what we were supposed to do ourselves.
Mosaic explained it all. They took Ouma into their care and then met with us the next day. We arranged a small service with hymns, flowers and a few photos. Nothing expensive or over the top. Just something that felt like Ouma.
The service was quiet and beautiful. After the cremation, they let us know when her ashes were ready. My mom collected the ashes, and the staff were kind to her when she became emotional again.

My parents took out funeral plans with Mosaic before anything happened. At the time, I did not really understand why they wanted to do it, but after my father passed away, I understood.
When we phoned Mosaic, they already had the main information on file. We still had to confirm details and make decisions, but the big things had already been discussed with my dad before. That made the process much lighter for my mom.
They collected my dad from home, helped with the documents, and arranged the cremation according to his wishes. We had a very small family service before the cremation, exactly as he wanted.
The ashes were returned to my mom afterwards. She has kept her own plan with Mosaic as well, because the way they handled my dad gave her confidence that things will be done properly when her time comes.

My baby passed away, and I still do not really know how to write about it.
Mosaic did not treat us like a normal appointment. They spoke softly, explained only what we needed to know at that moment, and gave us time when we could not answer questions straight away.
We chose a very private farewell. No big service, no crowd, just our family. They helped with the paperwork, the cremation and the small things we were not able to think about.
When the ashes were ready, they contacted us carefully. Not with a cold message, but in a way that showed they understood how painful it was. I will always be thankful for how gently they treated our baby and us.

My brother passed away alone in his flat.
That was a difficult situation because we did not know how long he had been there or what the process would be. I was embarrassed, sad and angry all at once. Mosaic explained what had to happen and what documents would be needed.
They arranged the removal and then helped us organise a private viewing before the cremation. I was nervous about the viewing, but they prepared us and explained what to expect. It gave our family a chance to say goodbye properly.
We did not have a big service. We had a short farewell and then the cremation. I collected his ashes from Mosaic afterwards. The situation was not easy, but they handled my brother with dignity.

My aunt did not have children, so the arrangements fell to me.
I knew she wanted cremation, but I did not know what kind of service she would have wanted. Mosaic asked me about her life instead of just asking what package I wanted. She loved reading, tea cups and old family photos. We used some of those things at the memorial table.
I went home after the first meeting and found a better photo of her. I also remembered a poem she liked. Mosaic added both to the service.
The cremation was done after the memorial, and because I live quite far away, they helped arrange for the ashes to be delivered to me safely. It was a small farewell, but it felt like it belonged to her.

My ma is by die huis oorlede op 'n Sondagoggend.

My dad passed away at St Augustine's Hospital, and I was the only family member in Durban.
I had to make decisions while everyone else was phoning me from different provinces. Mosaic helped me slow everything down. They collected my dad from the hospital, and then we arranged a consultation where my family could join by video call.
They showed us options, explained the cremation process, and helped us choose something that suited my dad. He was not a formal person, so we did not want a stiff service. We chose a relaxed memorial with photos and stories.
After the cremation, my dad's ashes were kept until my brother arrived from the Eastern Cape. Mosaic did not rush us to collect them. We collected them together, which was important to us.

I want to thank Mosaic for helping us with my father's burial.
He was old-school and always said he wanted to be buried next to my mother. We knew what he wanted, but we still did not know how much had to be arranged. Mosaic helped with the collection, the paperwork, the church service, the cemetery and the timing of everything.
We sat at their office and went through the day step by step. Who would carry the coffin, where the family would sit, when we would leave for the cemetery, what would happen at the grave. They answered everything.
On the day, the staff guided us quietly. The burial went smoothly, and my father was laid to rest next to my mother as he wanted.
